I’m lucky to be part of an amazing community of authors and artists in Christchurch, New Zealand, and online around the world. Check out some of the work they are doing!
A community for writers young and old from the Christchurch area. Very inclusive and up to some cool stuff including competitions, workshops and a critiquing group!
A fun group of people having a go at completing all of the challenges from Brian Kiteley’s 3 a.m. Epiphany book. Check in here from time to time for a range of brilliant writing prompts that will push you to do something a little different.
If you like writing speculative fiction (Fantasy, Sci Fi or Horror) you should definitely check out SpecFic – they have some great competitions, awesome prizes and some of the big published New Zealand authors in the speculative genre are there, so they have some experienced people around to support the fledgeling writers.
Nano is where I first became a writer and I still come back every year to write my 50,000 words in November. It can be a great social event and it’s hard to take yourself seriously when the goal is so ridiculous. It’s more surprising I manage to get to the end almost every year! Definitely give this one a go if you suffer from writers’ block.
